FuturePlus Systems Introduces New DDR3 Analysis Tools That Lower the Cost of DDR3 Analysis by Over 50%

Reliable DDR3 1867 MT/s DIMM and 1600 MT/s SO-DIMM data capture for Tektronix logic analyzers
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, Jan. 5, 2010 -- FuturePlus Systems Corp. today is introducing new versions of the FS2358 DDR3 DIMM and FS2359 DDR3 SO-DIMM interposers for next-generation double-data-rate (DDR) SDRAM bus analysis.
The new interposers are designed for use with Tektronix TLA7000-series logic analyzers to provide state analysis, 50 GHz timing analysis and protocol decode for the following:
- DDR3 DIMM Interposer performance at 1600 and 1867 MT/s reduces the required number of TLA7BB4 modules to only two from the previously required four.
- DDR3 SO-DIMM Interposer performance at 1600 MT/s reduces the required number of TLA7BB4 modules to only two from the previously required four.
- Further cost reduction through the use of the Tektronix P6960HCD probes and the FuturePlus FS1061 cables.
- Licensed software that requires no node locking.
These same products also provide the customer with:
- DDR3 Interposer performance up to and including 1333 MT/s reducing the TLA7BB4 module requirement to only one TLA7BB4 module from the previous requirement of two. In addition, this single module configuration can be used with the very low cost FS1061 cables and with the standard 750 MHz state operation of the TLA7BB4 module providing additional cost benefits.
Using the unique multiplexing feature of the TLA7BB4 module along with proprietary hardware and software features from FuturePlus Systems, DDR3 users can enjoy high performance tools at a significantly reduced cost. The new FS2358B and FS2359B offer unrivaled price, reliability and performance in DDR3 memory analysis interposers. In addition, FuturePlus Systems' new memory bus interposers include enhancements to its acclaimed Sample Point Finder software. This software allows the user to perform automated setup of the sample points in both voltage and time, see the data valid windows and visually identify potential signal integrity problems in only a few minutes.
"FuturePlus Systems' innovative solution has driven down the cost of DDR3 memory analysis" said Dave Farrell, General Manager, Logic Analyzers Product Line, Tektronix, Inc. "By working with FuturePlus Systems we are able to offer our customers industry leading DDR3 solutions. Not only have they reduced the cost by 50% but they are providing increased performance and ease of use functionality at this new price point."
"The FS2358B and FS2359B offer a new significantly lower system price point for DDR3 users, as well as improving the user experience, productivity, and performance," said Edward Aichinger, President of FuturePlus Systems.
The new FS2358B is targeted at designers involved with DIMM validation, failure analysis and bus functional-parametric validation in PC gaming, servers, super computing, high-definition television, laptops, desktops and mobile computing applications. The FS2359B performs a similar function for SO-DIMM designers.
Interposer Design Provides Flexibility and Ease of Use.
The FS2358B and FS2359B interposers offer flexibility and out-of-box ease-of-use. The low-profile interposer design minimizes probe-induced effects on the DDR3 bus. An interposer is inserted into the target memory socket, while also accepting a memory module in the probe's extender slot. This capability is essential when the target system has only one memory slot, or when a user must probe a fully-populated memory bus.
Software Components Speed Setup and Simplify Analysis.
The FS2358B and FS2359B include software that helps users to comprehend acquired data and enhance usability. Protocol-decode software interprets bus data and displays it in protocol, hexadecimal, or binary format, and auto-configuration files facilitate quick logic analyzer setup. The Sample Point Finder software automatically finds the correct sample points to make valid measurements.
Supported DIMMs and SO-DIMMs.
The FS2358B supports a 240-pin, 933 MHz clock (1867 MT/s data rate), 64-bit, UDIMM and RDIMM Synchronous Double Date Rate 3 DRAM Dual In-Line Memory Module (DDR3 SDRAM DIMM).
The FS2359B supports a 204-pin, 800 MHz clock (1600 MT/s data rate), 64-bit, Unbuffered Synchronous Double Date Rate 3 DRAM Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMM).
Availability
Both the FS2358B and FS2359B are currently available stock to six weeks ARO.
