SM7120 Super Megohm Meter for Ultra-High Resistance Testing

The SM7120 Super Megohm Meter is a state-of-the-art high-resistance testing instrument from Hioki, designed for rapid, precise, and reliable measurements in automated production environments. This meter achieves an extraordinary balance of speed and accuracy, measuring ultra-low currents with a 0.1 fA resolution and supporting a display range of up to 2 × 10¹⁹ Ω. With a maximum output voltage of 2000 V, it is uniquely suited for high-voltage applications such as EV components, wearable devices, insulation materials, and advanced electronic parts.

The SM7120 achieves a full measurement cycle in just 6.4 ms, including essential contact checks, or 7.0 ms when performing comparator measurements. This rapid operation ensures high throughput in mass production while maintaining reliable results. Contact checks are optimized for low-capacitance components (0.1–99.99 pF) and provide two-band frequency selection to prevent signal interference in multi-instrument environments.

Noise resistance has been dramatically improved—up to 300 times higher than previous models—thanks to a new Super Megohm floating circuit and triaxial connectors. Variability is reduced to 1/60 under normal conditions, and up to 1/300 under 50 V noise, ensuring consistent readings even in electrically noisy production lines.

The SM7120’s multipurpose design allows it to function as a Super Megohm Meter, Electrometer, Picoammeter, or IR Meter. Combined with optional electrodes, it can measure resistance across a wide variety of materials including electronic components, liquids, carpets, and processed rubber. Connectivity options like EXT I/O, RS-232C, GP-IB, and USB make integration into automated inspection lines seamless.
