Description
SME-8330 Liquid Sample Electrode for Volume Resistance Testing
The SME-8330 Liquid Sample Electrode is a specialized measurement electrode engineered for accurate insulation resistance and volume resistance evaluation of liquid materials. When testing high-resistance liquids, even minimal leakage current can distort results. The SME-8330 addresses this challenge with an electrically guarded design that ensures reliable and repeatable measurements.
Designed for use with Hioki super megohmmeters, the SME-8330 consists of a main electrode, counter electrode, and a protective guard electrode. This guard structure effectively removes leakage current flowing through the insulator, allowing the measurement system to capture only the true electrical characteristics of the liquid sample. As a result, users can confidently test high-resistance liquids without the instability typically caused by external leakage paths.
The electrode accommodates a sample volume of approximately 25 ml, making it suitable for laboratory analysis, materials research, and quality control applications where sample availability may be limited. With an electrode spacing of 1 mm and an electrode constant of approximately 500 cm, the SME-8330 supports precise volume resistance calculations across a wide resistance range.
For advanced testing environments, the SME-8330 can measure resistance values up to 10¹⁹ ohms at 1000 V when used with compatible Hioki super megohmmeters. This capability makes it ideal for evaluating insulating oils, chemical solutions, electrolytes, and other high-resistance liquids used in electronics, energy storage, and industrial materials development.
Durability and usability are central to the SME-8330 design. The insulator components are manufactured from chemically stable materials such as Teflon and Kel-F, ensuring resistance to chemical degradation over time. The electrode surfaces feature nickel plating, which enhances chemical compatibility while promoting uniform electrical contact within the liquid sample.
Maintenance is straightforward thanks to the electrode’s intelligent construction. The SME-8330 can be easily disassembled for cleaning and reassembled without specialized tools, allowing users to switch between different liquid samples efficiently while maintaining measurement integrity.
When used with the SM7000 series super megohmmeters, the Z5010 Conversion Adapter is required for proper connection. This ensures seamless integration into existing Hioki measurement systems, making the SME-8330 a reliable solution for precise liquid resistance testing in both research and production environments.
