LSX1491R Microwave Generator

The LSX1491R Microwave Generator provides a single high-fidelity 14GHz signal channel in a compact 19-inch 1U rack module. Part of Tabor’s Lucid-X series, it is designed to meet the exacting demands of advanced microwave and RF applications including radar systems, electronic warfare, secure communication, and high-precision automated test environments.

Signal Integrity

The LSX1491R sets a benchmark for spectral purity with low phase noise specifications of -133 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz and 10 kHz offset, harmonics at -50 dBc, and non-harmonics at -90 dBc. This ensures accurate and precise signal generation for high-performance DAC/ADC clocking, intermodulation distortion measurements, and local oscillator applications. Engineers can rely on this generator for clean signals in the most challenging testing scenarios.

Fast Frequency Switching

With an ultra-fast frequency switching speed of less than 10 µs and coherent frequency switching, the LSX1491R reduces test “dead time” in both lab and production settings. This capability allows rapid simulation of frequency-hopping radars, Bluetooth or military radios, and electronic warfare scenarios, enabling fast, reliable measurements without sacrificing accuracy.

Modulation Capabilities

The LSX1491R supports versatile modulation including AM, FM, PM, Sweep, and Pulse. Frequency Modulation allows deviations up to 10 MHz at rates up to 1 MHz. Amplitude Modulation supports linear depth up to 90% with rates up to 100 kHz, and Phase Modulation provides peak deviations up to 360 degrees. Pulse modulation features fast rise/fall times of less than 15 ns with high on/off ratios (~70 dB). Optional modulation packages further extend the functionality to meet complex application needs.

Control and Integration

Designed for flexibility, the LSX1491R uses SCPI and VISA standards for seamless remote control via LAN, USB, or SPI. It integrates easily with Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, or NI LabVIEW. The included virtual front panel allows intuitive local and remote control, ensuring easy setup and operation.
