Description

Hioki CT6904A-2 Sensor for Large AC/DC Current Measurement

The Hioki CT6904A-2 Sensor is a premium AC/DC current sensor built for high-accuracy measurement of large currents, up to 800 A. With a wide frequency bandwidth of DC to 4 MHz (CT6904A-2) or DC to 2 MHz (CT6904A-3), it is optimized for capturing both low-frequency DC signals and high-frequency AC currents, making it perfect for advanced R&D, industrial testing, and EV applications.

High-Precision Flux Gate Detection

The CT6904A-2 uses Hioki’s advanced zero-flux method (flux gate detection) to ensure outstanding linearity and temperature stability. DC and low-frequency currents are detected using flux gate technology, while high-frequency currents are measured with the CT winding method. This dual-detection system guarantees highly accurate measurements across a wide range of currents and frequencies.

Wide Frequency Range and Noise Resistance

With its DC to 4 MHz (CT6904A-2) or DC to 2 MHz (CT6904A-3) bandwidth, the sensor excels in high-speed measurements such as EV inverter efficiency and wireless charging system testing. Its unique solid shield design enhances noise resistance, enabling precise readings even in electrically noisy environments.

Automatic Phase Correction and Sensor Detection

When paired with the Hioki PW8001 Power Analyzer, the CT6904A-2 automatically corrects phase errors with 0.001° resolution. The built-in memory (I2C-EEPROM) allows automatic recognition of the sensor’s rated current, model, serial number, and phase correction data, eliminating manual entry errors and improving measurement reliability.

Ideal Applications

The Hioki CT6904A-2 Sensor is designed for:

  • EV inverter motor evaluation and efficiency testing
  • Wireless power transfer and charging system analysis
  • High-frequency reactor and transformer loss measurement
  • Industrial R&D for power electronics
  • Long-term DC measurement and quality control

Engineers and researchers benefit from the CT6904A-2’s combination of high current capability, wide bandwidth, and reliable, automated measurement features.
