Description

LSX1492B Signal Generator

The LSX1492B Signal Generator is a high-performance dual-channel 14 GHz microwave signal generator built for modern RF and microwave test environments. Part of Tabor’s Lucid-X family, it offers ultra-low phase noise, coherent frequency switching, and extremely fast settling times in a compact modular platform. This makes it ideal for radar development, electronic warfare simulations, aerospace systems, automated test setups, and laboratory research.

Signal Integrity

Signal purity is critical for high-precision measurements. The LSX1492B delivers a phase noise of -148 dBc/Hz at 100 MHz, -133 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, and -114 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz at 10 kHz offset. Harmonics are maintained at -50 dBc, while non-harmonics are below -90 dBc. These specifications ensure accurate and repeatable results for applications such as intermodulation distortion measurements, Local Oscillators, and high-performance DAC/ADC clocking.

Fast Frequency Switching

The LSX1492B supports ultra-fast frequency switching below 10 µs with coherent phase continuity. This minimizes dead time during automated testing and maximizes throughput in manufacturing environments. It also enables realistic simulation of frequency-hopping radar systems, electronic warfare threats, and secure communication protocols, providing engineers with precise, repeatable results in challenging RF scenarios.

Advanced Modulation

Equipped with AM, FM, PM, Sweep, and Pulse modulation, the LSX1492B meets the needs of modern analog communication systems. FM supports deviations up to 10 MHz and rates up to 1 MHz. AM provides linear depth up to 90% at rates up to 100 kHz, and PM offers peak deviation up to 360 degrees. Pulse modulation achieves a high on/off ratio of 70 dB with rise/fall times under 15 ns, ensuring precision in radar, aerospace, and electronic warfare testing.

Control and Integration

The LSX1492B integrates seamlessly with automation platforms via SCPI and VISA standards. It supports LAN, USB, and SPI interfaces and can be programmed with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or LabVIEW. The included virtual front panel allows for intuitive local and remote operation. Available in PXIe, rackmount, benchtop, desktop, and portable formats, the LSX1492B adapts to laboratory, field, or embedded applications.

This dual-channel generator combines spectral purity, speed, and versatile modulation, making it the ideal choice for demanding microwave testing and simulation tasks.
