Introducing the Pacific Power LMX Series – Linear AC Power Source

When high power quality matters, the new for 2020 LMX Series family of High Performance Linear AC Power Sources is the answer. The linear amplifiers within the LMX Series power sources are unmatched in their ability to produce the high crest factorlow-distortionhigh fidelity output waveforms required by the most demanding AC Test Power applications. Stand-alone models range from 500 VA to 6 kVA. Larger chassis may be paralleled to create systems that range from 8kVA to 30 kVA. Offering both single and three phase models, units are conservatively designed with output power ratings are based on the most severe combination of input line, output voltage, power factor, and temperature.

Great emphasis has been placed on low acoustic noise, ease of installation, ease of use and safety. Control and operating features provide a high degree of application versatility and ease of use for the test engineer. Applications range from simple, manually controlled frequency conversion to power-line susceptibility testing and sophisticated bus programmable transient simulation.

The exceptionally broad bandwidth (50 kHz small signal), combined with low output impedance and high crest factor ratings give the LMX Series the ability to produce high quality, low distortion output power into the most dynamic loads.

Key Features

High Performance Programmable AC power.

The LMX Series encompasses an all new collection of High Performance 1 phase and 3 phase Linear AC Power Sources. All standard models operate from 15 to 5,000 Hz, range in power from 500VA to 30kVA, and provide nominal output voltage ranges up to 600Vrms L-N.

The LMX Series builds on the popularity of the original AMX Series linear AC power sources that have been the benchmark for programmable AC Power output fidelity and performance and are backward compatible with the AMX.

Key Benefits

Design Provides Total Control of AC Power

  • All LMX Series power source models are equipped with our new digital Real-Time programmable Controller.
  • Single phase power source models may be controlled to operate on either a 0-135 VAC range or a 0-270 VAC range. Three phase models are additionally switchable to 3ø/1ø output power form.
  • Total control of the output power form and the selection of either the direct output or the optional transformer output is available from the front panel or the bus.
  • All operating functions may be controlled from either the front panel or from a remote USB, LAN (LXI compliant), RS-232 or IEEE 488.2/ SCPI BUS. LabVIEW for Windows® and LabWindows® Instrument Drivers are available.
  • The LMX controller supports a browser interface that allows control of the power source over LAN or USB using a web browser on PC, laptop or smartphone.

The LMX controller is essentially a single or three phase AC arbitrary waveform generator and Precision AC metering system. The waveform for each phase may be independently selected and may be independently varied in amplitude and phase angle with respect to phase A (3 phase systems).

The metering function samples the output volts and amps at 1024 samples per measurement using a 16 bit A/D converter. This technique provides exceptional metering accuracy and resolution and delivers a high-fidelity waveform back to a host computer for analysis.

The LMX includes LAN, USB, IEEE 488.2 and RS232 interfaces using SCPI commands.
