Description

SME-8302 Surface Resistance Electrode for Curved Materials

The SME-8302 Surface Resistance Electrode is a precision measurement accessory developed for evaluating surface resistivity on curved and irregular insulating materials. Conventional flat electrodes often struggle to maintain consistent contact on rounded surfaces, leading to unstable readings. The SME-8302 solves this challenge with a contact-based design that adapts naturally to curved geometries.

Engineered for use with Hioki super megohmmeters, the SME-8302 allows users to measure surface resistance by lightly pressing rubber electrode tips directly onto the material under test. This approach ensures consistent electrical contact while minimizing the risk of surface damage, making it suitable for delicate or finished components.

The electrode is particularly effective for measuring curved samples such as processed resin parts, rubber components, television cathode tubes, molded insulating goods, and other non-flat materials. It is also well suited for small samples where traditional surface resistance jigs may be impractical.

With a fixed electrode spacing of 4 mm, the SME-8302 delivers reliable surface resistance measurements at intervals of 10 mm or greater. It supports resistance values up to 10¹¹ ohms, covering a wide range of applications including anti-static evaluation, insulation verification, and quality control testing.

Ease of use is a major advantage of the SME-8302. Operators can perform measurements quickly without complex sample preparation. The lightweight, handheld form factor allows for flexible testing in laboratory, inspection, or production environments where speed and repeatability are essential.

The SME-8302 is compatible with the Hioki SM7000 series super megohmmeters when used with the Z5010 Conversion Adapter. This compatibility ensures seamless integration into existing Hioki measurement systems, allowing users to expand their testing capabilities without additional instrumentation changes.

Built for durability and precision, the SME-8302 combines simple mechanical design with reliable electrical performance. It is an excellent choice for engineers, researchers, and quality teams who require dependable surface resistance measurement on curved insulating materials.
