Description

LSX1494B Signal Generator

The LSX1494B Signal Generator is a high-performance four-channel 14 GHz microwave generator engineered for modern RF and microwave testing environments. Part of the Lucid-X family from Tabor Electronics, it offers ultra-low phase noise, coherent frequency switching, and ultra-fast settling times in a compact, modular platform. This makes it perfect for radar development, aerospace, electronic warfare simulations, automated test setups, and laboratory research.

Signal Integrity

Signal purity is critical for high-precision applications. The LSX1494B delivers phase noise of -148 dBc/Hz at 100 MHz, -133 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, and -114 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz with a 10 kHz offset. Harmonics are maintained at -50 dBc, and non-harmonics are below -90 dBc. This ensures accurate and repeatable results for intermodulation distortion measurements, high-performance DAC/ADC clocking, and local oscillator applications.

Ultra-Fast Switching

The LSX1494B supports ultra-fast frequency switching below 10 µs with coherent phase continuity, minimizing dead time during automated testing and maximizing throughput. This is crucial for simulating modern real-world environments, including frequency-hopping radars, electronic warfare threats, and secure communications protocols, where signals must change pulse-to-pulse. Fast switching allows engineers to perform precise measurements without compromising accuracy.

Advanced Modulation

The LSX1494B offers full analog and pulse modulation capabilities. FM supports deviations up to 10 MHz at rates up to 1 MHz. AM provides linear depth up to 90% at rates up to 100 kHz. PM offers peak deviations up to 360 degrees. Pulse modulation achieves a high 70 dB on/off ratio with rise/fall times under 15 ns, providing exceptional precision for radar, aerospace, and electronic warfare applications.

Control and Integration

Designed for flexible integration, the LSX1494B utilizes SCPI and VISA standards. LAN, USB, and SPI interfaces allow programming in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or LabVIEW. The virtual front panel provides intuitive local or remote control. Available in PXIe, rackmount, benchtop, desktop, and portable configurations, the LSX1494B adapts seamlessly to lab, field, or embedded applications.

The LSX1494B Signal Generator combines spectral purity, ultra-fast switching, and four-channel capability for the most demanding microwave testing applications, making it an essential tool for engineers requiring accuracy, speed, and reliability.
