Description
LSX8081D Microwave Signal Generator
The LSX8081D 8GHz Single Channel Desktop Microwave Signal Generator is part of Tabor Electronics’ Lucid-X family, engineered for high-fidelity RF and microwave testing. With a frequency range up to 8GHz, this compact desktop instrument delivers exceptional spectral purity, ultra-fast frequency switching, and versatile modulation capabilities, making it ideal for demanding applications including radar systems, communication testing, and electronic warfare simulations.
Spectral Purity and Signal Integrity
The LSX8081D sets a new standard for microwave signal fidelity. It provides low phase noise across its frequency range: -148 dBc/Hz at 100 MHz, -133 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, and -114 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz. Harmonics remain below -50 dBc, and non-harmonics below -90 dBc, ensuring clean, precise signals critical for LO generation, DAC/ADC clocking, and intermodulation distortion measurements.
Advanced Modulation Capabilities
The generator offers comprehensive analog modulation, including AM, FM, PM, and Sweep. FM supports deviations up to 10 MHz at rates up to 1 MHz, AM allows linear depth to 90% at rates up to 100 kHz, and PM provides peak deviation up to 360 degrees. Pulse modulation features fast rise/fall times <15 ns with high on/off ratios (~70 dB), suitable for radar and electronic warfare signal simulation.
Ultra-Fast Frequency Switching
With 10µs frequency switching and coherent hopping, the LSX8081D minimizes dead time in automated test environments and supports frequency-hopping applications for secure communications and real-time radar simulations. Engineers benefit from increased test throughput without compromising measurement accuracy.
Flexible Control and Integration
Designed for ease of use and system integration, the LSX8081D supports SCPI and VISA protocols for remote control via LAN, USB, or SPI. It integrates with Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, or LabVIEW, and features a virtual front panel for intuitive local control. Its compact desktop form factor ensures high performance while saving lab space.
Applications
The LSX8081D is widely used in radar systems, communications testing, electronic warfare, high-precision lab experiments, and DAC/ADC clocking. Its combination of low phase noise, fast switching, and versatile modulation makes it a cost-effective and high-performance solution for modern RF testing.
